Earlier last year, my partners and I sat together to think about the direction of Factory for the future. What should the next steps be? How will Berlin develop? What are our goals? To get a fresh perspective and new inspiration, we decided to revisit some of the most important technology hubs around the world, and travelled to San Francisco, Tel Aviv and London to meet with the local scene and see the local spaces.
What struck us is that while being such unique and diverse ecosystems, all these places had one thing in common: The commitment and involvement of Google to be a facilitator of the local startup scenes, fostering innovation and collaboration through spaces, events and networks.
As the Berlin-based partner of Google for Entrepreneurs since 2012, we have worked together in the last few years to connect the Berlin startup scene and to build a thriving innovation community that enables young companies to grow better and quicker.
Today, I’m very excited to announce that we have extended this partnership with Google and will continue to work together to strengthen the Berlin ecosystem as an official „Google for Entrepreneurs Tech Hub Partner“.
As part of this partnership, Google will continue its engagement on-site at Factory to benefit Factory members as well as the wider community. The funds of the agreement will also be used to host a number of community events, in the tradition of the Factory Hackathon in July 2015, the annual week-long Google Launchpad pre-incubation program or the BerlinTechHalloween party. In addition, our Factory members will have access to selected product credits for Google services, including the Google Cloud Platform.
GOOGLE IS A PARTNER THAT HAS BEEN WITH US SINCE THE VERY BEGINNING. THEY HAVE SEEN BOTH THE TRIUMPHS AND THE TROUBLES WE EXPERIENCED IN BUILDING THE FACTORY COMMUNITY OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS, AND THAT THEY COMMITTED TO NOT ONLY RENEW, BUT EVEN EXPAND OUR PARTNERSHIP SHOWS THAT WE ARE ON THE RIGHT PATH.
As an official Google Tech Hub Partner, Factory is part of a global „Google for Entrepreneurs“ network of 25 innovation spaces, such as the ones we saw in San Francisco, London and Tel Aviv, where thousands of tech entrepreneurs work, learn and grow together. Benefits to startups in these communities include access to workspace at any other partner location, mentoring from Googlers and involvement in programs including GFE internal demo days and exchange programs.
Google is a partner that has been with us since the very beginning. They have seen both the triumphs and the troubles we experienced in building the Factory community over the last three years, and that they committed to renew our partnership shows that we are on the right path. We are incredibly proud to have the defining technology company of our time on board as a partner and are excited for what we can accomplish together with Google and its network in the future.
