Sampling in music has been in existence since the 1960s, rose to prominence during the Golden Age of Hip Hop in the 80s, and is now considered an artform that forms the basis of most digitally produced music. While hardware samplers used to be the only way to access this technology, most Digital Audio Workstations now have powerful samplers built into their interface, making sampling widely accessible and providing producers with endless capabilites at a fraction of the cost.
In this interactive masterclass 343 Labs founder and Ableton Certified Trainer Max Wild, will give an overview of sampling using Ableton Live, and show some of the many ways this technology has transformed music creation in the last 50 years.
Topics covered include: Overview of sampling and popular sampling techniques, drum sampling, vocal sampling and chopping, sampling with MIDI, and online sample resources.
