The consensus mechanism ensures that all honest parties have the same version of the ledger even if some nodes in the network act maliciously. The first part of the meetup will be dedicated to a better understanding of Consensus Protocols – their purpose, different generations, and how the choice of a protocol reflects on the project itself. The second part will be about HelixMesh, the novel consensus protocol suitable for IoTs, developed by Helix Cognitive Computing.

The HelixMesh Protocol is inspired by innovative protocol approaches – optimal solutions, that apply to large scale systems, to create a set of tools that enable use cases creation for any commercials that want to implement DLT into their services. Helix is thus the product of innovative solutions in the world of Distributed Ledger Technologies, firstly inspired by the Tangle methodology and currently evolving with other approaches, including influences from Aleph Zero, Avalanche, and MeshCash.

The goal of this meetup is to share our findings with the community and possibly offer a solution for projects which face problems that we did! In the end, it is all about education and innovation.

The event is free.

About the speaker:
Dmitrii Zhelezov became a crypto believer in 2017. He broke into crypto in early 2018 in the first batch of community analysts recruited by the fledgling transparency start-up @MessariCrypto.

In the fall of 2018, he joined forces with Helix Cognitive Computing GmbH in order to work on a robust distributed ledger and decentralized economic model for IoT networks.

With a background in theoretical physics and enterprise software development, Dmitrii received his second master’s degree in Financial Mathematics and then pursued a Ph.D. in pure math. After obtaining the degree, he received a Knut and Alice Wallenberg Research Fellowship from the largest Swedish research fund.

About Helix:
Berlin-based tech startup, Helix Cognitive Computing is on a mission to develop a robust blueprint for IoT-sourced DLTs. By using a next-generation peer-to-peer digital exchange network based on its own distributed ledger – the HelixTangle, the HelixMesh Protocol and a native currency – the HLX coin, Helix has been developing a new digital ecosystem with a strategic focus on cutting-edge technologies based on decentralized distributed systems and cognitive computing.

The primary use case of Helix is to provide decentralized network infrastructure for computing resources with a focus on edge computing and IoT devices. Once Helix is populated with seed applications, it will enable entirely new business models with interactions where end users can be businesses, single individuals, or even non-humans – thereby making it an ideal platform, e.g., to run very efficient machine-to-machine (M2M) transactions.

Helix wants to create an open development environment where users, students, or employees, can create decentralized programs.
