Potential Realities and Perspectives– Dreams, Mental States and Electronic Sheep

The content and purpose of dreams are not fully understood, although they have been a topic of scientific, philosophical and religious interest and debate throughout history.

Join us and learn about dreams and the different forms of realities from an artistic point of view and from a neuroscientific standpoint and how VR is used to better understand consciousness and mental pathologies.

Luca Forcucci –Luca Forcucci is a composer, researcher and artist interested in art and science collaborations. He achieved a PhD in Sonic Arts from De Montfort University, a MA in Sonic Arts from Queens University of Belfast. He has won numerous prizes and residencies, and among them Swiss Artists in Lab Residency at the Brain Mind Institute in Lausanne, Site-Mapping.ch Swiss Digital Art Award for a research in the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest and Djerassi Foundation residency in San Francisco. Michael Gaebler studied cognitive and neurosciences in Osnabrück, Montreal, Paris, and London before he completed his Ph.D. at the Charité/Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. In his research at the Max Planck Institute in Leipzig, he investigates how mental processes (i.e., thinking and feeling) are neurophysiologically realized. To this end, he also combines virtual reality with measurements of brain activity.

Mert Akbal explores as a cognitive artist phenomena from the cognitive science field. He teaches and researches in two institutions: Academy of Fine Arts Saar in Saarbruecken and Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Berlin.
