After an exhilarating day, sometimes its better to continue into the night with live music, more networking, and even chiller vibes. It was two and a half years ago, that Factory Berlin members Petra, Vlad, and Em met at our first Afterwork Jam Session, which gave way to the birth of their band: MANONO.
Whether it be randomness or destiny, the digital natives from Slovenia, Spain, Italy, found a way to fuse their very different musical backgrounds to foray the human condition in urban, dystopian, and digital environments.
Front-woman Petra effortlessly affirms the grooves and syncopation of a modern working life with her lyrics:
True to the Berlin underground spirit the band wrote, recorded, and produced their first self-titled release all D.I.Y. style and within five months, were funkmasters in Soundcloud’s studio. Since then, they’ve launched their official website and welcomed a new member, Jack from Sweden, into the band.
As the purveyors of cool funk and detached pop on the Berlin circuit, MANONO has even mastered the art of sailing on tiny boats and became stars of their very own Kickstarter campaign.
However, their love of boats and habitual cruising on the Spree have nothing to do with the fact that their band name refers to an island of Samoa or a small town in Congo. They chose the name to reflect music’s power to escape from everyday life.
MANONO has poured all their efforts into the release of their full-length debut album Liquid Society, announced for release in March 2019. With a Kickstarter effort that ends this week, get their album before it sells out.
On December 12 2018, MANONO met their Kickstarter goal of 8500 EUR. Congratulations!
