We were honored to be part of the delegation of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender on their first official visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories.
Our Co-Founder & CRO Niclas Rohrwacher joined the German delegation including Friede Springer (Vice Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Axel Springer SE), Dr. Eric Weber (CEO and Founder of SpinLab), Raif Hussein (President of the German-Palestinian Society), Charlotte Knobloch (President of the Israelitische Kultusgemeinde München und Oberbayern), and Dr. Josef Schuster (President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany).
Together they took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at former Israeli President Shimon Peres’s grave, visited the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, Yad Vashem, and met the members of the Women Wage Peace – a grassroots movement founded after the Gaza War of 2014. The delegation also met various Israeli thought leaders and intellectuals, including novelist Amos Oz, historian Moshe Zimmermann, and author Zeruya Shalev.
The visit also provided an excellent opportunity to build bridges between the German and Israeli startup ecosystems, and kick off talks with President Steinmeier about Germany’s digitalization efforts.
We’re proud of our strong ties to Israel and the local technology and creative scene. Last year, we hosted the very first Tel Aviv Week at Factory, where we brought together a selected group of entrepreneurs, VCs and IoT experts from Tel Aviv with our Berlin community. After the success of the first conference, we are looking forward to host the next one end of 2017.
