Join us for a screening of 'AB HEUTE', an independent documentary directed by Sophia Emmerich and Sam Arndt.

AB HEUTE is an award-winning documentary reflecting on the discriminatory legal process of official name change experienced by transgender people in Germany. It showcases transgender voices expressing their views on persistent legal discrimination and the Transsexuellengesetz (Transsexual Act).

The documentary has won a Venice Shorts Film Award and has been picked up as part of the 2022 official selection for the Berlin International Art Film Festival, the Lift-Off Global Network, and previously the Courage Film Festival and Lonely Wolf London Film Festival in 2021.

Produced entirely by a queer and trans team, Sophia Emmerich and Sam Arndt captured an honest and moving portrait of what it means to be a transgender person in Germany.
