Admit it, how many times you had the idea to start a podcast? Maybe you were tempted to join the bandwagon with your very own at-home corona podcast? Perhaps you had the name and the concept ready to go?

And most importantly, how do you create a show that stands out from the noise of millions of other podcasts?

1. Choose your name wisely.
Naming your podcast can be tricky, but it should definitely feel like one of the most important decisions you will make during the process. It might even take a couple of weeks before you settle on a name. Main things to consider: make it catchy, relatable to the content and not too long.
“It is important in some cases to use insider language and keywords but make sure that they are commonly used. Don’t hop on to thesaurus.com and try to find the most obscure version of the word because it’s unique. It might be unique, but half of the people will not know what you’re talking about.”
2. Plan ahead
Behind every successful podcast is a well thought-out roadmap, however this stage is often overlooked. Planning your content is one of the most crucial parts when it comes to any creative process, whether you need to record an album, shoot a movie or create a podcast. An outline of each show allows you to save time and simplify an already arduous process.
3. Manage burnouts and anticipate obstacles.
Learn how to focus on the big picture of success, but don’t forget to keep your eye out for potential difficulties. You can’t avoid challenges, but what you can do is learn how to dodge the curveballs that are being thrown your way.
“If you haven’t included a buffer in your key milestones, something is going to go wrong. Obstacles are going to come up and if you factor for them, you will take a lot of stress off yourself.”
4. Invest in podcasting gear.
You don’t need to break the bank, but at the same time, do not expect to reach certain heights if you are recording on your mobile device from your bedroom. Quality is as important as the content. Start with small things: a good microphone and a good set of headphones can have a significant effect on your podcast.
“There is genuinely no point in you making a podcast if it sounds bad. It doesn’t matter how good your content is, how great your guest is - if it sounds like they’re talking to you from a toilet, no one is going to want to listen to it in the first place”

5. Network your heart out.
