What are the world’s most pressing problems, and how can entrepreneurs help solve these?
For this monthly speaker event, Effective Altruism Berlin is excited to welcome Devon Fritz, Director of Germany of Founder’s Pledge, who will share their work in building a community of entrepreneurs and helping them to find and fund solutions to the world’s most pressing problems. Afterward, there’ll be plenty of time for questions, discussions and networking (drinks and snacks provided).
Everyone interested in Effective Altruism (EA), Founder’s Pledge or philanthropy in general is welcome and no previous knowledge is required, though it might be helpful to get an impression of the EA philosophy and the community beforehand (see details below).

ABOUT FOUNDERS PLEDGE:

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Devon Fritz (Director of Germany, Founder’s Pledge)
As Managing Director of Germany, Devon has founded the German branch of Founder’s Pledge and runs its day-to-day operations. As CTO, he makes sure that all technical aspects of the global organization (Berlin, London, New York) are integrated and running smoothly. Before joining Founder’s Pledge, Devon has worked in consulting and software development for the private and the public sector, ran his own business and studied computer science, information technology and computational linguistics in New York and Heidelberg.

Effective Altruism (EA) is a philosophy and social movement that uses evidence and reasoning to determine the most effective ways to help others. It’s a diverse community of researchers, entrepreneurs and philanthropists spread around the globe, working together in various areas such as risks of emerging technologies, animal welfare and global health to solve the world’s most pressing problems.
EA Berlin is one of 300 local EA groups around the globe. We connect students and professionals interested in doing good effectively and support them in their personal development and career planning to increase their impact. We organize regular work meetups, discussion groups, workshops, research projects, talks, networking events and socials and also offer career coaching.
