Brent co-founded lastminute.com in April 1998, was CEO from its inception, and sold it in 2005 to Sabre for $1.1bn. Brent is currently the co-founder and chairman of Founders Factory, a corporate backed incubator and accelerator, and also of Founders Forum, an invite-only global community of founders, corporates and tech leaders.

He also co-founded Founders Intelligence, an entrepreneur-led consultancy that enables large organisations (e.g. Henkel, BP, Sky, Visa Europe, Diageo etc) to participate in the massive value growth created by technology-centred businesses in their industries and firstminute capital, a pan-European $100m seed fund, backed by Atomico, Tencent and over 30 unicorn founders.

Brent is the co-founder, and was founding chairman, of made.com, a leading European direct-from-factory consumer homewares retailer with $137m funding to date. Technology businesses he has co-founded have raised over $650m.

Brent co-chairs the Prime Minister’s Business Sector Council for entrepreneurship, scale-ups and small business. In 2015 Brent was awarded a CBE for services to entrepreneurship.



Sebastian Matthes has been Deputy Editor-in-Chief & Head of Digital at Handelsblatt since 2018. Before that, Sebastian built the German edition of the Huffington Post. Before joining HuffPost, Sebastian worked for WirtschaftsWoche. During this time, he has worked intensively on digitization, media innovations, and renewable energies. Sebastian studied political science and economics in Hamburg – and then completed the Georg von Holtzbrinck School for Business Journalists.
